Overall, the transition has gone pretty well. She has gone through a fair share of falling out of the bed. But, all we've had to do is pick her up and place her back in the bed. There has been one hiccup. When she first gets placed in bed and sees Momma or Daddy leave the room, she gets the idea that she'll play for a bit. So, we often hear a few clunks and thumps but we just let her be. Most often, she ends up in her chair and rocks herself to sleep. This makes Lezlie sad but I'm sure she'll count her blessings once we have 2 to rock to sleep.

Forced to Grow Up

First Cardinals Game
Anyway, Tommy, Julie, Lezlie, Maya, and I hopped in the bus (our 2005 Toyota Sienna) and made our way downtown last Friday night. For some reason, I thought I had decent seats ($32 regular price) but they happened to be 10 rows from the top in VERY left field. We lasted about 2 innings before Maya decided to crap her pants. But, it ended up being a blessing. I don't think she would have lasted much longer cramped in those seats. After searching for a changing station, we happened to find a group of empty folding chairs in left field where we could sprawl out and Maya could play.
Not surprising, Maya didn't care any about the game. She was more interested in the people. But, even that got boring by the 5th inning and she needed her green goblin (that's what we call her binkie when we don't want her to know what we're talking about). It turns out we didn't last much longer. Wainwright lasted six innings only giving up 2 earned runs but the relief quickly added up the walks and runs and the Cardinals lost 11-4. Let's just hope Maya wasn't bad luck. Otherwise, we'll have to stop bringing her.

It's A Boy
I'm sure most all of you know by now, but I'd thought I'd better publicize and document the fact that we're having the boy. I'm not a doctor but I definitely agreed with the nurse on her findings. As she said, "I don't think it could be more obvious than that."We are very excited that now we'll have one of each. But, we're also a little nervous about the fact that we'll have to learn a whole new set of tricks. I imagine my mother can help us out, having raised two wonderful boys:)
So anyway, everyone has been asking us if we've picked out a name. Yes, we have. The next logical question is "What is it?" Sorry, we're not telling. I have come up with a name that I will call him until he's born...the Terminator. It funny, the first thing we thought after see him up front was "he looks like a Terminator." I've "enhanced" his profile below to make it a little more clear to you all.

We've Created a Monster
Don't get me wrong, I am all for her playing outside. I am proud to say that to this day, she hasn't watched TV for longer than 1 minute in one sitting. We'd rather have her running around outside than sitting on her butt watching TV inside...which brings me to my problem--that is what I do. So, I guess I'll have to take up an outdoor hobby because I'm gonna be there all summer long. For now, I've been weeding the lawn while chasing Maya. And, she even tries to help but often just pulls up healthy grass. But, she does very well picking up sticks. I don't know why but she thinks it's the most fun thing in the world. I even brought out an old trash can that is her yard waste bucket. Now, if only they had a lawn mower her size...
